Advanced Hearing Test Equipment
At Hearing Wales, we use modern, industry-standard audiology equipment to provide accurate and reliable hearing assessments.
Your hearing test is carried out using calibrated diagnostic audiometers in a controlled environment, allowing us to measure your hearing across a full range of sounds and frequencies. In clinic,
we will carry this out in a sound proof booth, but we can also arrange for you to have a hearing test carried out in your home. We have fully portable equipment and will just need a quiet room.
This ensures we can detect even mild hearing loss and provide the most appropriate advice and recommendations for your individual needs.
Who Should Have a Hearing Test?
You may benefit from a hearing test if you have noticed any changes in your hearing, such as difficulty following conversations, needing to turn up the volume on the television, or asking people to
repeat themselves.
Hearing tests are also recommended if you experience tinnitus, work in noisy environments, or simply want reassurance about your hearing. Early detection of hearing loss can make a significant
difference in maintaining your quality of life.
How Long Does a Hearing Test Take?
A typical full hearing test appointment takes around 60 minutes. This allows enough time for a full assessment, discussion of your hearing concerns, and a clear explanation of your results.
We always ensure you have time to ask questions and fully understand your hearing before making any decisions. We do offer shorter 30 minute appointments for hearing screening which is
especially useful for those under 55.
What Happens During a Hearing Test
Your appointment will typically include:
- A discussion about your hearing and any concerns, along with your medical history. We also take into account your lifestyle so that we can understand your hearing needs.
- A full hearing test using advanced equipment
- Explanation of your results in clear, simple terms
- Advice on whether hearing aids or further treatment may help. If required, we can advise you on our hearing aids in Cardiff.
Our goal is to give you a complete understanding of your hearing and the best options available to you.
Should I Bring Someone With Me to My Hearing Test?
You are welcome to bring a family member or friend to your hearing test if you would find it helpful. Many people find it reassuring to have someone with them, especially when discussing their
hearing and understanding the results.
Having another person present can also help you remember the information provided and support you when making any decisions about your hearing care. However, you are equally welcome to
attend your appointment on your own if you prefer.
Where Can I Have My Hearing Test?
You can have your hearing test at our local clinic in Rhiwbina which covers all of Cardiff and the surrounding areas, or in the comfort of your own home. We also have other clinics in Swansea,
Mumbles, Narberth and Newcastle Emlyn.
Our clinic appointments provide a professional, fully equipped environment for a comprehensive hearing assessment. Alternatively, our home visit service offers the same high standard of care,
making it ideal if you prefer not to travel or find it more convenient to be seen at home.
Whichever option you choose, you will receive a thorough assessment, clear advice and personalised support from our experienced audiologists.
What Happens After Your Hearing Test?
After your hearing test, we will clearly explain your results and discuss whether any treatment or hearing aids may benefit you.
If hearing aids are recommended, we will guide you through the options available, helping you choose the most suitable solution. You can learn more about our hearing aids in Cardiff to
understand the options available.
