Hearing aid help
Depending on its severity, tinnitus can cause irritation or even real distress and anxiety.
80% of people with the condition, which is often linked to hearing loss, can be helped with hearing aids. This is because the hearing aid replaces the environmental sounds that the person is missing, which then masks the tinnitus so it is less noticeable.
Other therapies include Tinntius retraining therapy, CBT and mindfulness techniques.
Coping strategies
Tinnitus can have a number of causes but subjective tinnitus cannot be cured. More and more research going into mindfulness as a coping strategy.
Tinnitus can also be caused by wax blockage in the canal so if you have suddenly started suffering from tinnitus check for wax.
