One of the harshest things experienced by people with hearing loss is losing the ability to hear the music they love. And its an issue which affects musicians and rock stars too, as rock legend Roger Daltrey has revealed.
The Who frontman is now urging music fans to protect their ears at gigs with plugs or defenders, after announcing he is now so deaf he has to rely heavily on lip-reading at gigs in order to follow the music.
Daltrey, 74, made the revelation at a solo gig in the US and said he regretted not knowing how important ear protection was when he was younger.

Hearing Wales Director, Ben Davies said our ears are subject to a barrage of strains and stresses which can take their toll.
He said:
“Whilst we’re not all rock legends like Roger Daltrey, modern life is full of high decibel sounds, particularly if we love a gig or a festival.
“Its important to keep tabs on your hearing health, particularly as hearing loss can be gradual which means we don’t always notice it at the outset.
“If you think you are struggling to follow conversations, or people seem to be mumbling, you could be dealing with hearing loss. Its worth getting a test to put your mind at rest or get equipped with the right hearing technology.”
