Wales Online have published a new article today, warning people of Wales to ensure they visit a properly trained Audiologist for ear wax removal.
Audiologists are warning the public against seeking earwax removal from people without proper training.
The risk to your hearing could be:
- Damage to an eardrum or ear canal
- Infections
- Missing warning signs of serious illness
There is little official regulation on who can perform these procedures, meaning someone with no Audiology experience could be trained to perform earwax removal. It is vital that the procedure is conducted by someone who understands the anatomy of the ear, because of the delicate structure and to minimise potential risks.
